Andrew Le HegaratConservative Party candidate for Boughton Monchelsea and Chart Sutton Ward in Maidstone Borough Council
About Me
My name is Andrew LeHegarat I am 21 years old and am looking for your vote on May 3rd. I work at a local pub and am also studying for a degree in Politics. I was born in Dundee, Scotland to Kentish parents, from the Fant area of Maidstone and from Pembury. I have lived in many different parts of the country, and have met many different types of people. I have lived in Boughton Monchelsea for the past 4 years and have seen what makes this part of Kent a desirable place to live and work.
I have worked with Maidstone MP Helen Grant, and Maidstone Borough Councillors on many issues concerning our ward and others. I believe that it would be my job as your councillor to represent your ideas and your issues to the Borough Council in an effective and professional manner. I want to be able to speak up for the residents of Boughton Monchelsea and Chart Sutton and want to make changes that will benefit the whole community of those who live and work here.
Boughton Monchelsea and Chart Sutton Ward is one of the nicest parts of rural Maidstone and I believe that more should be done by the Borough and County Councils to ensure that this part of Kent maintains it's charm and does not become enveloped by the town in such a way that other villages have done so, and by working with the parish councils, local organisations and businesses, and individuals, I will work towards this.
It is a firm belief that
while our ward is not swallowed up by the expansion of
Maidstone, we should not be cut off from it. This is why I am
against the decision by KCC to review in 2013, the Saturday service of the
59 bus which provides a vital link between the villages and the
town centre. I will work with the parish councils and villagers
to make sure that this service does not disappear.
The 59 Bus service is a vital link for our villages to connect
with Maidstone. Without it many will lose access to vital
services in the town centre. I will do everything in my capacity
to make sure that this important service continues to run in our
villages.
Unnecessary lorry traffic is a major problem in our area and I
will actively campaign for tougher restrictions and consequences
on HGV drivers with co-operation from the Parish Councils,
Neighbourhood Watch, Local Businesses and the Borough Council to
put a stop to this menace and danger in our villages and
throughout the whole borough.
I will also campaign for greater action on speeders that use our
main roads with little or no consideration. I will work with
KCC, Kent Police, the local communities and local organisations
to provide a solution that accepted by everyone.
The negative stereotype put upon young people is, for the vast
majority, completely false. Young people have much to offer this
town, they are our future. I will campaign to ensure that both
young and the elderly are not forgotten and that facilities
cater for all.
Our disabled citizens are still getting a bad deal. Having a
disabled sister, I have witnessed first hand the difficulties
that disabled people face. I will champion the needs of disabled
people.”
If elected, I will work with the Council and the community to
invite investment and other services that will improve the
quality of life further while continuing to provide the high
level of services that are enjoyed by the community, and provide
Boughton Monchelsea and Chart Sutton with the Borough Council
representative that it deserves.’
